SERVICES TROUBLE SHOOTING

01

PROBLEMS: COOLING / CHILLERS / CONDENSERS

Your chiller and condenser is the heart of your facility. Poor quality water treatment causes fouling or scale. This restricts and insulates your water side heat transfer surfaces resulting in high head pressure in compressors. It creates an inability to cool refrigerant that's needed to chill water or cool production equipment resulting in system failure and disables your systems ability to cool.

FIX: An initial inspection of tower should take place first to determine cause. Check for poor water flow from nozzle restriction, faulty fan or sump screen blockage. Our trained water treatment professional can determine if your system needs a detailed manual cleaning removing sediment and mud Or if a chemical flush should be implemented.

PROBLEMS: COOLING / EVAP CONDENSERS / COOLING TOWER

Your cooling tower is the lungs of your cooling system. Poor quality water treatment causes fouling or scale to build on your systems water side surfaces.  This results in a scale formation on your tube bundle or fill media pack. This formation acts like an insulator inhibiting heat transfer that will disable your systems ability to cool. If the scale is allowed to accumulate, It will drastically reduce a towers air flow affecting its ability to breathe and cool refrigerant supplied to compressors or chillers.

PROBLEMS: COOLING / HEATING / CLOSED LOOP

Your closed system is the arteries of your cooling and heating system. It provides chilled or heated water to your facility. Poor quality water treatment causes several issues with corrosion, bio fouling and sediment. Most systems are made from metal. A poorly treated system can have excessive iron or bio fouling in the water. This means your system is literally eating itself up. If left unattended, damage to the systems piping, evaporator or water cooled condenser will occur.

FIX: An initial water quality inspection of the loop chemistry needs to be checked by our trained technician to determine cause. If problems are found, typically a cleaner needs to be added to your loop to circulate for 48hrs. A flush of the entire loop will need to be applied to remove the cleaner and re establish a base water quality. We will then replace appropriate biocides and corrosion inhibitors.

PROBLEMS: BOILER

A boiler quality water treatment program’s primary function is to keep heat transfer surfaces (steam-generating and associated tubes) free from scale and deposition. The second function is to inhibit corrosion. Boiler deposits are problematic because they typically contain undesirable levels of metal oxides, mineral scale, sludge, or various combinations. Corrosion generally occurs because of excessive levels of dissolved oxygen but, can also develop under tube deposits. Deposits and corrosion can lead to boiler tube failures that result in costly repairs and downtime.

FIX: An initial water quality inspection of the boiler chemistry needs to be checked by our trained technician to determine cause. If problems are found from fouling, a chemical flush will need to be applied to remove fouling. If severe corrosion is found, repairs will be discussed with customer and a quality water treatment program will need to be implemented to prevent further damage.
